Fuel injector e.g. common rail injector, testing method for e.g. commercial vehicle, involves registering temporal pressure change of fluid medium at inlet and return line, and inferring tightness and leakage rate of injector from change
The method involves pressurizing a high pressure inlet (114) and a return line (116) of a fuel injector (110) with a defined high pressure or low pressure by a fluid medium e.g. air. A temporal pressure change of the fluid medium at the high pressure inlet and the return line is registered, where a tightness and a leakage rate of the fuel injector is inferred from the temporal pressure change. A pressure and/or a volume flow rate at the return line and the high pressure inlet is detected and measured at an injection opening (120) of the fuel injector. An independent claim is also included for a kit for testing a fuel injector, comprising a pressure source.
