The pneumatic tire (1) for vehicles, comprises layers of rubber elastomer and reinforced supports, and an intermediate self-sealing layer (5) from a dimensionally-stable and viscoelastic polyurethane or silicone gel, which contains a filler. The sealing layer has a layer thickness of 2-5 mm. The filler is organic granulates (6) or short fibers. The grain size of the granulates is 1-8 mm. The fiber length of the short fibers is 1-10 mm. The filler is uniformly distributed in the sealing layer, which is arranged between an interior layer and tread (3) of the pneumatic tire. An independent claim is included for a procedure for the production of a pneumatic tire.
