The differential gear has a drive unit (12) rotatably connected with a pinion cage (21), and two power take-off units (13, 14). A mechanical coupling device (10) connects the drive unit with the power take-off units and has mechanical locking units (15-18) arranged in row. The coupling device is locked based on rotation speed and one of the power take-off units. The power take-off units is locked below a marginal rotation speed of the drive unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for a coupling device.
