The source (6) has a lamp body filled with gas for emitting electromagnetic radiation in a stimulated state. A microwave applicator (12) is positioned on the lamp body in order to introduce microwave energy in the gas in the lamp body. Segments (20-24) are positioned on different areas of the lamp body to define the microwave applicator, which is designed as a resonator. Microwave power output of one of the segments is adjusted independent of the other segment, where the microwave power outputs of the segments are different from each other. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device comprising a transport unit (2) a method for positioning a radiation profile of a discharge tube (3) a method for fixing a printing medium on a print substrate.
