The device (1) has a connecting rod flap (2) opening and closing a passage opening (10) for connecting a main guide of a folding top or roof. The flap is movable from opening into closed position relative to a folding top tonneau cover (11) and vehicle side parts by shifting a guiding rod, crank web and a guide pin. Two main guides (18a, 18b) tangentially cooperate with the guide of the top or stay in connection with the guide of the top for opening and closing. A contact point between the main guides and the guide of the top are arranged in an area that is optically covered by the flap.
