The drive (2) has a hydraulic system containing hydraulic fluid and with a hydraulic drive unit (8) e.g. serial hybrid, operated as a hydraulic pump (18) and/or a hydraulic motor. An internal combustion engine (6) and the hydraulic unit are coupled with a drive section (4) of a vehicle. A heat regeneration device (22) regenerates heat energy from hot exhaust gas and/or cooling agent of the engine and supplies the heat energy into a part of the hydraulic system. A high pressure-energy storage (10) contains a gas-like compressible medium i.e. inert gas, separated from the fluid.
