The exciter (1) has a housing (2), and a guiding rod (9) mounted in the housing in its main extension direction (5) in a linear displacement manner. The rod guides a rotor (4) opposite to a stator (3). The rod is mounted in the housing by a linear ball bearing (12), where a plastic ball bearing cage (14) encloses the rod within a guiding bush (13). The bearing has balls that are consecutively arranged along the main extension direction. The rotor has a coil (7) made of light metal e.g. aluminum, and a coil carrier (8) made of light metal e.g. magnesium, is supported at the rod.
