The invention relates to a method for designing a dental prosthesis, which is to be placed on a residual tooth area and in which a spacing between the dental prosthesis part and the remaining tooth area is provided, and the subsequent step of checking whether one or more undercuts are present in the dental prosthesis. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for processing a designed dental prosthesis with one or more existing undercuts, wherein between the dental prosthesis and a residual tooth area, a spacing is provided and wherein a shape of the spacing is changed to remove the undercut or portions of the dental prosthesis. The invention also relates to a method in which the formation of undercuts is prevented by providing or modifying a spacing. In addition, the invention relates to a tooth replacement part with a planned spacing thereon, the spacing of the dental prosthesis part having a first and a second spacer region and an intermediate transition region, wherein there is no undercut in the transition region. The invention also relates to a corresponding computer-readable medium.
