Broadband lambda sensor controlling method for motor vehicle, involves reducing or increasing pump voltage over preset time, and concluding factor characterizing Nernst voltage and/or pump current based on time characteristics
The method involves controlling a leading electrical pump pressure circuit by outer and inner pump electrodes (APE, IPE) such that reference-Nernst voltage lies between a reference electrode (RE) and a Nernst electrode (NE). The reference-Nernst voltage is adjusted to a preset value greater or smaller than a reference voltage, preferably 450 milli Volts. Pump voltage is reduced or increased over a preset time period so that oxygen is pumped into or from a measuring hollow cavity (MH). A factor characterizing the Nernst voltage and/or pump current is concluded based on time characteristics. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a circuit arrangement for controlling a broadband lambda sensor for determining concentration of gas components in exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine (2) a computer program comprising instructions for performing a method for controlling a broadband lambda sensor for determining concentration of gas components in exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine (3) a computer program product comprising instructions for performing a method for controlling a broadband lambda sensor for determining concentration of gas components in exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine.
