Digital medical sectional image post-processing method for e.g. brain tissue structure, of patient, involves assigning smoothened and edge detected final image as input data to volume rendering algorithm
The method involves using a two dimensional smoothing filter on a sectional image (B) e. g. computer tomographic sectional image and an edge detection filter on the smoothened image. The smoothened and edge detected final image is assigned as input data to a volume rendering algorithm. A mean value filter that is used as the smoothing filter calculates a preset arithmetic mean value and assigns a pixel to be smoothened as a color value for blood, bone, ventricle and cell body. A sobel filter that is used as the detection filter is used in horizontal and vertical image directions on the pixel.
