The contact module (5a-5d) has a plug contact receptacle for a fixed connection with an electrical conductor and a plug receptacle (16) for joining together a plug element with the contact module. The plug receptacle is surrounded by an opening collar in a plug direction. The collar extends in plug direction path of a protective strap. Collar recesses are formed at lateral ends of the protective strap. An independent claim is included for a plug element with a module receptacle.
