The device has an auxiliary pump (7) present at an end of a catheter tube (5) immediately before a needle (6), where the auxiliary pump is controlled by an electronics (4) of a dosing pump (1). The auxiliary pump is in a position of high pressure to inject a liquid active ingredient e.g. insulin, by the needle in a hypodermic manner when pressure of the dosing pump is not sufficient. An error message e.g. catheter clog, is provided to warn when supply of medicament is stopped. Operation of the auxiliary pump is activated only with high catheter pressure by a pressure sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for continuous hypodermic infusion of liquid active ingredient.
