The keyboard (1) has a rigid control panel (2) for inputting data and provided with straight lines (5) and characters (6). The control panel comprises a foil arranged at housing. Infrared light elements i.e. LEDs, and infrared sensors are arranged at an edge of the control panel, where the sensors detect radiation emitted from the light elements. An evaluation device evaluates the radiation detected by the sensors. The control panel comprises a board made of metal, plastic or composite material, where the control panel is detachably connected with the housing.
