The carrier (1) has a semiconductor circuit connected with a transmission element that enables transmission of data from or to the circuit, where the element is designed as a contact surface (4) or a transponder. The element is arranged on a partial area (3) of the carrier. The partial area is completely surrounded by an outer area (5) of the carrier. A recess (7) surrounding the partial area is separated from the outer area, and is connected with the outer area by a hinge joint (6) arranged at an edge of the partial area. A layer is made of thermoplastic polyurethane in an area of the joint.
