The plant for producing biogas, comprises an operating arrangement with a reactor container (11), which comprises an inlet (12) and an outlet (16, 18) for fermenting material, a separate buffer storage (22) connected with the operating arrangement for a microorganism culture, a separator (17) arranged in the outlet for separating a microorganism-containing sewage and a sewage return pipe (20a, 20b) for reconducting the separated sewage into the reactor container. The buffer storage is arranged towards a sewage outlet of the separator and is connected in parallel to the sewage return pipe. The plant for producing biogas, comprises an operating arrangement with a reactor container (11), which comprises an inlet (12) and an outlet (16, 18) for fermenting material, a separate buffer storage (22) connected with the operating arrangement for a microorganism culture, a separator (17) arranged in the outlet for the separation of a microorganism-containing sewage, and a sewage return pipe (20a, 20b) for reconducting the separated sewage into the reactor container. The buffer storage is arranged towards a sewage outlet of the separator, is connected in parallel to the sewage return pipe, is designed as flow through storage and has a plug flow characteristic. Lamellas are intended in the buffer storage, which comprises a cascade from storage tanks and a gas removal mechanism and is formed as reactor.
