The footrest has a device for distance limitation connected to the footrest and a seating furniture. Slats, bars, bands or cords are connected with the seating furniture and the footrest, and managed by variable contraction or extension of distantly formed sections of the slats, the bars, the bands or the cords such that the footrest does not slip away far from the furniture. A connecting cord (VS) runs at left and right sides of a base in a laterally reversed manner, and an inlet opening (EM) is inserted at a user close corner of the footrest.
