The method involves operating color or fountain solution jack (5) by using cam mechanisms (13, 15) and a belt transmission (14) of an intermediate drive (11) for separately rotating blanket and plate cylinders (2, 3) synchronized with a printing machine drive (8) in a printing operation. The cylinders are brought in synchronous operation to the jack and the drive (8), by providing additional integral correction rotation of the cylinders into jack target position with respect to the drive (8), after relative rotation of the cylinder with respect to the drive (8). An independent claim is also included for a device for synchronizing periodic feed motion of a color or fountain solution jack with a printing machine drive.
