The mounting device (1) has two side pieces and a connecting element (2) with two stoppers (3a,3b) for attachment at the side pieces, where the stoppers are arranged in distance from each other. A fixing unit is provided for fixing the connecting element between the side pieces. The fixing unit is connected with the connecting element and the both side pieces such that the side pieces are fixed at the stoppers. The connecting element is made of paperboard material and has a middle section (5), at which two side sections (4) are bent. An independent claim is included for a method for mounting a frame with two side pieces at a wall opening.
