The method involves producing a set of images (100I, 100II) of a part of supply area (2) from two different perspectives by a set of image capturing devices (5.1, 5.2) i.e. stereo camera. Object-and/or position data (OD, PD) of a set of front cover stacks (3.1-3.3) are determined from the images by a photogrammetric process. The images of the supply area are temporally transferred by position change of the devices. Inclination of the stack is determined as a function of position change of stack. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a roll packaging system comprising a device for positioning a front cover (2) a method for controlling a device for positioning a front cover.
