The sub-assembly (120) has a cylinder sleeve (200) accommodating a piston (190) in an axially displaceable manner and partially supporting the piston. The cylinder sleeve has a front-sided opening to make a reciprocal effect of the piston with a drive section (500). A sealing element (220) accommodated in the cylinder sleeve is provided between the piston and the cylinder sleeve in a sealing manner. The sealing element is arranged to counteract the transfer of a medium to be conveyed from the front-sided opening of the cylinder sleeve to the drive section. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a piston pump sub-assembly.
