The stand for a miter saw has legs (2) which are attached to the wings (8) of sheet metal gusset plates (3) The wings are bent over at the top to form lugs (11) positioned under a third lug (13) at the top of the central section (4) of the gusset plate and bolts (15) are passed through holes in each side lug and the central lug to fasten the plate to the top of the stand (1). An independent claim is included for a similar stand which has folding legs, two of which have clips, into which the other legs fit when folded into the storage position.
