The machine i.e. hydro-pump (1), has a set of pistons (10-16) supported at a limiting element (22), where the pistons limit a working chamber (18). The working chamber is connected with a low-pressure line (32) by a low pressure-sided check valve and with a high-pressure line (34) by a high pressure-sided check valve. Each of the pistons is fixable in a position by a clamping device (2, 4), where the clamping device is hydraulically operable and has a clamping bush (38, 54, 56). The clamping device is operable with a system pressure from the high-pressure line.
