The method involves determining movement of a structure of a vehicle by sensors. Control signal is provided by a controller (92) e.g. damping controller, for controlling an actuator (96) e.g. semi active or active actuators, such that the movement of the structure of the vehicle is controlled. Sensor signal is pre-processed depending on desired movement characteristic of the structure of the vehicle by a preprocessing element (100), and the pre-processed sensor signal is delivered to the damping controller such that non regulating relevant signal information and/or signal process is filtered. An independent claim is also included for a system for influencing a movement of a structure of a motor vehicle.
