The seal (10) has a sealing element (16) fastened to a radial flange (15) of a circular reinforcement element (12) in a shaft near region of the radial flange. The radial flange comprises a recess (22) causing an attenuation (h) of an axial expansion (s) of the radial flange within the shaft near region. The radial flange runs radially within the shaft near region. The recess is arranged at a side (24) to be sealed, of the radial flange. A radial length of the recess is smaller than a radial length of the unweakened part of the radial flange.
