The dryer (1) has a process-air channel (2) with a supply-air opening (7) for drawing in process air from surroundings of the dryer. An exhaust-air opening (8) pushes out the process air into the surroundings of the dryer, and the process air is guided into the exhaust-air opening through an exhaust air channel part (15). A condensate separated from the process air in a heat-exchanger arrangement (10) is distributed in a flowing-through process air by a distributor i.e. ultrasound atomizer (17), of the channel part. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a dryer with a drying chamber.
