A treatment device for the surgical correction of myopia or hyperopia on the eye (3) is described, wherein the treatment device (1) has a laser device (L) controlled by a control device (12) which separates corneal tissue by irradiation of laser radiation (2) in that the control device (12) is designed to control the laser device (L) for emitting the laser radiation (2) into the cornea (5) in such a way that a lenticular volume (18) in the cornea (5) is isolated, the removal thereof the desired correction is effected from the cornea (18), the control device (12), when the laser device (L) is driven, setting the lenticular volume (18) to have a minimum thickness (dM) in the range of 5 to 50 μm, with myopia correction, the minimum thickness (dM) is present at the margin of the volume (18) and hyperopia correction in the area of the visual axis (OA).
