The equipment i.e. motor protection switch (1), has pre-chamber plates (9, 12), and a housing wall (2) comprising outside accessible recesses (15, 17) formed within the area of the plates. The recesses receive iron plates (16, 18) for forming an alternating current high power switching device. The wall has an opening (19) formed within the region of the recesses. The opening receives a permanent magnet (27) with an assembled housing by the iron plates for producing alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC) glass device supporting the electric arc guide during both AC and DC operations.
