Manufacturing tire components from wound-on rubber strips, transfers hot rubber in intermediate storage units, from extruders to calendar rolling-out strips

Two stationary extruders (1a, 1b) deliver defined quantities of rubber mixtures to intermediate storage units (3a, 3b) with pistons (4a, 4b). These are selectively positioned relative to a calendar which rolls the cylindrical strand they deliver, forming a rubber strip to be wound-onto the drum or tire blank. Each storage unit is coupled to an extruder, to fill it with rubber mixture. Once full, the storage unit is disconnected. Each storage unit is heated. The mass of rubber mixture is delivered from the intermediate storage units in a controlled manner. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR corresponding equipment.
