The method involves forming a transducer exciter signal (1) as a sequence of successively produced signal sequence sections (SQ1-SQ3) of certain sequence time lengths, where the sections consist of successive signal segments (SG1-SG6) as signal oscillations of certain segment time lengths. A sum of the segment time lengths of the signal segments and the sequence time lengths of the signal sequence sections is determined. Two of the segments in the section are unequal with reference to segment time lengths and/or segment amplitudes of the segments.
