The device (1) has inductive and/or capacitive effective ring initiators (5-7) for differentiating between a distance piece (18) and blind rivets, and for determining a position of the blind rivets. A slider (8) is provided with boreholes (13, 14) and is horizontally movable in three positions by an actuator. The slider removes the distance piece and the blind rivets with a malposition from a continuously operating handling device (9), such that the blind rivets are individually delivered to a joint machine. The blind rivets are made of metallic material i.e. aluminum alloy material.
