The pump (1) has a pump element (8) with a pump piston (9) driven by a cam (7) or eccentric cam of a drive shaft (3). A force transmitting element (25) is arranged between the cam or eccentric cam and the pump piston. The transmitting element has a wear-resistant layer made of wear-proof material at a side turned towards the cam or eccentric cam, and a flexible layer formed below the wear-resistant layer. The flexible layer allows the penetration of cam or eccentric cam into the force transmitting element. Recesses are formed in the wear-resistant layer.
