The gear has a mounting sleeve (22) connecting a carrier element (16) with a differential cage (10), and radially implemented with a pin (18) corresponding to an opening (34) of a wall of the differential cage. The mounting sleeve includes a recess for receiving the pin. An enveloping circle diameter of the carrier element is smaller than an inner diameter of the differential cage. The mounting sleeve is attached on the pin, and provided with an inner abutment surface shifted back opposite to a front sleeve side. The mounting sleeve is bolted together with the pin. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a differential gear.
