The device has a piezo-foil sensor (26) arranged at a component e.g. fuel-injection valve (18) and high-pressure line (25), of a fuel injection system, for determining an operational behavior of the fuel-injection valve. The piezo-foil sensor has a piezoelectric plastic foil and is connected with an evaluation unit e.g. chip on injector, arranged on the component. A control unit (23) evaluates a signal produced by the sensor. The plastic foil is surrounded by a metalized plastic foil. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining operating behavior of a fuel injection valve of a fuel-injection system for an internal combustion engine.
