The device (26) has a laser-active solid body (44) for generation of laser radiation (24) of a wavelength. A wavelength conversion component (47) e.g. non-linear optical medium, converts a part of the laser radiation of the wavelength to radiation of another wavelength. A quality switch (46) i.e. passive quality switch, is attached to the laser device. The wavelength conversion component is arranged outside of a resonator, which is limited by two reflectors (42, 48) and contains the body and the switch. The solid body, the quality switch and the conversion component are monolithically formed. An independent claim is also included for a method for operation of a laser device.
