The apparatus has a supply device (8) to supply a fiber bundle to a rotor combing machine (2) provided with clamping devices (18, 21). The machine has rollers (12, 13) i.e. turning and combining rotors, arranged downstream of the supply device and rotating rapidly without interruption. A mechanical device generates a combing action to loosen and remove non-clamped constituents e.g. dust, from the bundle, and is associated with the roller (13). A guide device i.e. pneumatic guide device, for optimum feed and/or positioning of fiber material to be combed is associated with the mechanical device.
