The separator (10) has a longitudinally extended housing (16), which are aligned parallel to the longitudinal extending direction (L) of an object in mounting condition. A pyrotechnical propellant is arranged in the housing, where ignition of the propellant causes a separation of the object. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) an assembly for a cut through elongated, flexible object and a separator; and (2) a parachute system with a parachute, pay load and a separator.
