The method involves providing write and read access to medium data (2) and meta data (3) for a user group i.e. providing user (5). Only read access to the data is provided for another user group i.e. retrieving user (4). The data to be transmitted to a central server (1) are converted and compressed in a suitable format prior to transmission. An access network is tested on an available bandwidth prior to the transmission, and the transmission is controlled, initiated or stopped. Status of the data is informed to the user groups in a complete or partial manner over a communication channel (7).
