The engine (1) has a pump (3) for compressing a liquid working medium (A) e.g. ethanol, and a heat exchanger (4) for evaporating the medium by a heat transfer of a heat medium on the working medium. An expansion device (5) expands the working medium, and a condensation device (6) cools and/or condenses the working medium. The pump, heat exchanger, expansion device and condensation device are interconnected in a circuit. The condensation device has liquid-cooled and air-cooled coolers (6.1, 6.2) through which the working medium is successively flowed.
