The method comprises electrolytically producing hydrogen and oxygen, temporarily and partially supplying the produced hydrogen and/or oxygen to a chemical process, intermediately storing the produced hydrogen in a temporal and partial manner, temporarily converting the hydrogen by gas and steam-, block heating power plant- or fuel cell processes to obtain heat, and temporarily and partially supplying the obtained current and/or heat to the chemical process. The heat obtained during converting the hydrogen is temporarily and partially fed into a public power network. The method comprises electrolytically producing hydrogen and oxygen, temporarily and partially supplying the produced hydrogen and/or oxygen to a chemical process, intermediately storing the produced hydrogen in a temporal and partial manner, temporarily converting the hydrogen by gas and steam-, block heating power plant- or fuel cell processes to obtain heat, and temporarily and partially supplying the obtained current and/or heat to the chemical process. The heat obtained during converting the hydrogen is temporarily and partially fed into a public power network. The hydrogen and oxygen are intermediately stored in gaseous or liquid form. The quantity of electrolytically produced hydrogen is determined from each actual current price and/or other parameter such as requirements of load frequency control. The hydrogen production takes place at times of a favorable current price. The electrolytically produced oxygen and the obtained heat are intermediately stored in a temporal and partial manner. The heat obtained during the electrolytic production is temporarily and partially supplied to the chemical process and/or is used for heating buildings. The input current supplied to the electrolytic production is heated. The required heat is partially provided by the heat from the chemical process and/or by the heat obtained during the electrolytic production. An independent claim is included for a device for providing hydrogen, oxygen, electric current and/or heat for a chemical process.
