The method involves forming a decorative layer on an upper side of a derived timber product core (1). Water is sprayed on the upper side of the core and is made to permeate into the upper side of the core, where the quantity of water sprayed is in the range of 10-40 milliliter per meter square. A synthetic resin layer is formed on the decorative layer. The core is pressed with the applied layer structure in a short-period pressing with a pressing plate for embossing a structure which is provided in the pressing plate on the synthetic resin layer. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a building board manufacturing device comprising a water applying device (2) a floor panel comprising a side edge.
