The method involves integrating a gas-tight container (6) into an evacuated gap (3) between panes (2) of a vacuum insulated glass, where container is provided with a defined internal gas pressure between 0.0001 Pascal and 1 Pascal. The container is closed in an air-tight manner by a membrane (5), and a pressure difference between the container and the gap between the panes is piezo-resistively, piezo-electrically, capacitively, mechanically or optically measured. The container is optically changed when the pressure in the gap is varied.
