The side folding bag has two front surfaces, which form a bag front wall (1) and a bag rear wall. A re-closure (6) is shorter than the bag width and extends from a location, which is located in a central area of the bag between enclosed side folds (3,3'), to near the edge of the bag in the area of the side fold. The side folds have a flank adjacent to the front wall and another flank connected with the rear wall by a sealed seam (11).
