The bracket (1) has retaining segments (4) for forming a cylindrical enveloping to hold a cross-wound bobbin (2) and connected with a rotatably supported carrier (3) in a radially movable manner. The segments engage a retaining position in which the enveloping of the segments corresponds to the inner diameter of the cross-wound bobbin. An axially movable actuating device (6) exhibits two cones (13), which act together with the segments. Limitation at both ends of the segments is formed by radially rigid flanges (10, 11) that are connected with the carrier.
