The method involves supplying a tempered air mass flow to a vehicle interior through an evaporator using a blower, and limiting the pressure on a high pressure side of an expansion chamber to a maximum permissible pressure. The air mass flow passing through the evaporator is reduced during the maximum refrigerating capacity requirement and a restart of the vehicle. The air mass flow is adjusted to a minimum value of 10 percentage of a maximum air mass flow. The stroke of a compressor is increased until the pressure on the high pressure side reaches the maximum permissible value.
