The device has a battery (6) providing voltage supply to components of the device. An operating system operates the device to engage a main operating condition, and two saving operating conditions, where current consumption in one of the savings operating condition is smaller than that in the other saving operating condition. The device is equipped in such a manner that the latter saving operating condition is only possible when a battery charging condition is not below a pre-determined limit value during changing from the main operation into the saving operation. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling saving operating conditions in a battery-operated electronic device.
