The piston has a piston head (1) provided with a mantle surface (10), and a piston groove (20) inserted into the mantle surface. The groove includes an upper groove surface (21) and a groove base (22) that is attached to the groove surface, and closes the groove in a radial direction of the piston head. A pressure recess e.g. pressure borehole (23), extends along the upper groove surface from the mantle surface in the radial direction of the piston head, in such a way that the pressure recess ends before the groove base in the radial direction of the piston head towards the piston axis.
