The method involves providing a mass storage for a material to be extruded. A molten liquid material to be extruded is feed into the mass storage, and the material to be extruded is output from the mass storage by a shifting movement of a piston (11), where one of the materials is changed by axial characteristics of tubular preforms during the extrusion of the preforms. Pressure in a melt channel (18) between the mass storage of one of the materials and an extrusion head is controlled by a pressure regulating pin (19) retractable into the melt channel. An independent claim is also included for a device for manufacturing thermoplastic hollow bodies.
