The mechanism has a water wheel (1) in combination with a hydraulic pump transforms the operation of flowing water into hydraulic operation using a hydraulic cylinder (3) or a hydromotor, where the machine is provided for driving a water purification machine. The water wheel is displaceable in rotation by the force of flowing water. The rotation of water wheel is transferred by a shaft, transmission or directly on a shaft of an eccentric disk (2). An eccentrically placing bearing pin moves a piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder during back and forth rotation of eccentric disk.
