The radial shaft seal (10) has a diaphragm with a radially rigid intermediate element, so that the diaphragm is divided into two flexible zones. The intermediate element is made of a radially rigid elastomer-rib, and a metal or hard rubber ring. The intermediate element is made of a rigid layer which is attached on an upper or lower side of the diaphragm.
