The air conditioning system has an air conditioner (12) and an air conditioner control unit (14). The air conditioner control unit is formed to transfer a control signal to an incident tracing system (22), which is coupled with the air conditioner control unit, by which a change of the operating condition is traced. The control signal characterizes the operating condition of the air-conditioning system. The operating condition influences the controllers (16a,16b). An independent claim is included for a method for operating an air conditioner of an air conditioning system of a motor vehicle.
